ACCOMODATION FEES

Regulation no. 42/2022

of 29 April 2022

of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz

regarding the rules of paying fees and the price list for accommodation

in the Halls of Residence of the Medical University of Lodz

 

Pursuant to art. 23, clause 1, art. 79  clause 2  item 6, art. 80 clause  3 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws 2022, item 574 as amended) and paragraph 13 clause 2 of the Statute of the Medical University of Lodz of 27 June 2019 as amended, I hereby order as follows:

  1. The price list for accommodation in the halls of residence of the Medical University of Lodz, hereinafter referred to as the “University”, is hereby introduced.
  2. The price list referred to in paragraph 1 is attached to the Regulation

  1. Within the meaning of the Regulation, a student is a person studying at the University and pursuing a long-cycle, first-cycle, second-cycle, third-cycle, PhD program or a doctoral student studying at a doctoral school.
  2. A student pays a fee for accommodation in the hall of residence. The amount of the fee is equal to the costs of a student’s stay in the hall of residence incurred by the University. If the aforementioned costs change, fees for accommodation in the hall of residence may be altered accordingly.
  3. Permanent accommodation is defined as a stay in the hall of residence lasting, on a continuous basis, over 10 days. Permanent accommodation is granted by the University Commission for Student Dormitories on the basis of previously submitted applications. During the academic year such decision, based on the accommodation capacity, is made by the manager of the dormitory.
  4. Temporary accommodation is defined as a stay in the hall of residence lasting up to 10 days included. A decision on temporary accommodation is taken by the manager of the student dormitory.
  5. Fees for temporary accommodation should be paid beforehand to the account numer of the appropriate the hall of residence.
  6. In the case of a permanent stay in the hall of residence, the fee for accommodation in the month in which accommodation and check-out take place is calculated proportionally, depending on the length of stay and amounts to:

1) from 1 to 10 days a month – 1/3 of the monthly fee;

2) from 11 to 20  days a month – 2/3 of the monthly fee;

3) over 20 days a month – the full amount of the monthly fee.

  1. The student who is a laureate or finalist of central-level olympiads, admitted to the University in accordance with the resolution of the Senate of the Medical University of Łódź on the rules of admitting laureates and finalists of central-level olympiads, and laureates of international and national competitions, including those organised by the Medical University of Lodz, pay fees for accommodation in a student dormitory reduced by 50%, for the entire period of education.
  2. Fees for accommodation in the halls of residence for spouses of the University students who are not University students themselves are increased by 8% VAT.
  3. Children of the University students are exempted from payment of fees for accommodation in the hall of residence.
  4. The monthly payment for accommodation in the halls of residence for students of other universities and persons who are not students, apart from persons mentioned in clauses 2 and 3, is increased by PLN 75 and 8% VAT (not applicable to medical students).
  5. Students who pay the fee for the whole semester in advance are entitled to a 5% discount on the monthly fee.
  6. Students who pay the fee for the whole academic year in advance are entitled to a 7% discount on a monthly fee.
  7. Fees for accommodation are paid before the last day of each month, and in the case of check-out during the month – by the last day of accommodation, unless the last day of the month is a public holiday.
  8. The date on which the payment is received on the account number indicated in the lease agreement is decisive for compliance with the time limit referred to in clause 7. In case the payment term specified in clause 7 is exceeded, the additional fee for late payment of the accommodation fee shall amount to 10% of the monthly room charge specified in the appendix to the regulation. Fee additional is also charged in case of incomplete payment for accommodation.
  9. Persons who are granted accommodation in the hall of residence:
  • in June – pay the accommodation fee for October by 1st August;
  • in August – pay the accommodation fee for October by 10th September;
  • persons not mentioned in point 1 and 2 – pay for accommodation for the month October no later than on the day of accommodation;
  1. Failure to pay the fee for accommodation within the period specified in clause 9 means resignation from the granted accommodation.

  1. Reductions on the fee for accommodation in the halls of residence are the following:
  • 50% a month – for members of the Board of Residents who are on duty during holidays, the Student Government and other students working for the University without any remuneration (the reduction is awarded based on a written application with justification filed by the student with the Department for Undergraduate and PhD Studients’ Affairs);

no more than three people per month may be on duty;

  • 50% a month, for the whole year – for chairpersons of the Boards of Residents in the halls of residence;
  • 10% – for students undertaking vocational placement training included in the program of studies (the basis for granting the discount is a confirmation of the internship presented to at theby dormitory administration).
  1. In matters not regulated by this regulation, decisions are made by the Rector or a person authorized by him.

Regulation No. 85/2021 of 16 July 2021 is repealed of the Rector of the Medical University of Lodz on the principles of payment of fees and the price list of fees for accommodation in the  hall of residence of the Medical University of Lodz.

This Regulation comes into force on 1st July 2022.
